February President’s Message

Hello members!!  As I’m writing this message, its very crisp outside but it’s not raining!!   The sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day.  I actually got to ride today at Hunting Hollow.  It was quite a site to see how high the creeks had come,  the multitude of leftover debris deposited where the creek had been and the “extra” creeks that are now flowing alongside the road and sometimes on the road itself!  It was still great to get my horse out and ride.  I hope all of you fared well with all the storms and rain and that you are finally starting to dry out.

The rain has given us a break for awhile but it is still crisp and cold outside.  What great weather for eating hot soup or chili!  Our general meeting is February 10th and we will be celebrating our 2nd annual Soup and Chili contest.  Dig out that favorite recipe and enter the contest.  We will be giving prizes for the soup or chili voted the favorite by the members.  The club will furnish bread and butter and those not entering their soup or chili can bring their favorite salad or dessert.  This contest has proven to be very popular and  fun.  I hope we get a lot of participants.  I’m sure it will be difficult to pick just one as the best!  I also hope we’ll see Ron Lowery defending his title from last year!

Our meeting should be informative.  We have our 2017 calendar to discuss and hopefully the membership will have some additional ideas to add to the list.  I hope to see all of you at the meeting and maybe even bringing a guest!   Remember our goal to boost membership!  Applications will be available at the meeting to make it convenient for you to renew for this year!

In closing, I will leave you with this bit of wisdom :

If you don’t like how things are, change it!  You’re not a tree. –
