And summer has arrived!
We’ve had some nice hot riding weather but Mother Nature cooperated with us for our June 24 Poker Ride by turning the temperature down a few degrees to give us a pleasant day at Harvey Bear. Everyone enjoyed both the ride and the BBQ. We had some superb poker hands (5 of a kind!) and gave away lots of prizes to happy riders. The trail obstacles were also very well received. A couple of riders commented to me how much they enjoyed them and how helpful they were. Thank you to Tim Alton for setting these up! I would also like to thank our BBQ chefs, Sal, Steve, Paul and Greg for a top notch meal as well as all the SMHA members who helped with prizes, registration, card stops and event setup and teardown. It certainly takes a village to put these events together!
As of this writing, we have 6 riders for the Morgan Hill July 4th parade along with Sandy’s miniatures and a pooper scooper. We hope to have a decorated truck too. If you want to walk in the parade, show up at 8:00am on the 4th behind Britton school on Monterey (signs will be posted) wearing jeans and a long sleeve white shirt. EveryBODY counts! Come out and support your club.
Our July 14th general meeting will feature a presentation from DreamPower while we enjoy an old fashioned social with ice cream and hot dogs. We will collect a $5 fee – small price for so much fun! Please mark your calendars and plan on attending. It’s always nice to have a good attendance to show appreciation for our guest speakers.
August 7 – 14 is our Jack Brooks campout. To date, we have 5 pre- registered campers. Obviously, we need a lot more participation to prevent us from experiencing lost revenue on this event There is a little over a month left. Get your reservations in! Invite friends to join you. This is an awesome camping opportunity with fabulous trails and facilities. We need more participation to make this event successful.
Let’s all get out and enjoy our horses and the holiday. I’m looking forward to seeing you ALL at our meeting on July 14th.
